The TED motto is “How can we best spread great ideas? Anxiety is one of most prevalent mental health disorders, with out of people around the world being likely affected. Leading up to conditions such as depression , increased risk for suicide, disability and requirement of high health services, very few people who often need treatment actually receive it. It’s a refreshing way to learn about how you feel, from people who have real-life and actionable tips to overcoming it. Solome shares her experiences of having severe anxiety as a teenager and how she used her own struggles with start helping other teens and their families understand and manage anxiety.


One of my favorite TEDx talks on anxiety is Jordan’s. She is funny, real and ultimately very helpful. She points out that the object of anxiety is different for different people.


For example, some people get stage fright but Jordan is most at home on stage. I’ve always been a chronic worrier. In the last five years, that worrying has morphed into a more intense and chronic anxiety (or maybe it was always this bad and I just didn’t have a name for it). The costs are just too high. Physically, stress wreaks havoc on your body in ways big and small.

Stress related hormones cause wrinkles, weight gain, inflammation, heart disease,. Breaking the anxiety cycle through kindness. Partly because I can listen to stories about how other people’s lives are impacted by this treatable mental illness, but mostly so I can learn more about it. In this TED talk she discusses her feelings of otherness whilst growing up, and comes to a positive conclusion.


Watch this if you’ve ever worried about fitting in, or struggled with your sense of self. About Social Anxiety Stop Worrying. TED talks on anxiety help people understand that they are not alone in living with social anxiety and related problems such as stuttering. That is her point through it all.

Furthermore, mental health is just as important as every other kind of health. Mental illness is serious. And while we’re at it, can we please stop the stigma”, she ends. She pushes tech companies to “Build environments that are psychologically safe, and that remove stress.


So that our coworkers, our teammates, can come in every day and be happy and be productive and thrive. This is a powerful story about how she was able to overcome and depression by telling her story in an honest way. When you’re struggling with depression it can be really scary to tell anyone and often time people suffer in silence. The most amazing TED Talks for parents that are in the ‘must watch’ category.
