Phobophobia is the fear of phobias an more specifically, of the internal sensations associated with that phobia and anxiety, which binds it closely to other anxiety disorders, especially with generalized anxiety disorders (free floating fears ) and panic attacks.
As stated above, Phobophobia or the fear of fear is very real. People with existing anxiety disorders have an increased risk of developing Phobophobia. As with other phobias , Phobophobia also originates from a panic disorder.
Panic is the onset of sudden, unreasoning or hysterical fear. Soceraphobia- Fear of parents-in-law.
Sociophobia- Fear of society or people in general. Somniphobia- Fear of sleep. Sophophobia- Fear of learning. Soteriophobia - Fear of dependence on others. Spacephobia- Fear of outer space.
Spectrophobia- Fear of specters or ghosts. A person with a phobia fears and tries to avoid certain objects, activities or situations. Any phobia can be cured when it manifests itself, but if it remains untreated it may lead to severe complications.
As you may notice while you browse through this list, most specific phobias fall into one of four major categories: fears of the natural environment, fears related to animals, fear related to medical treatments or issues, and fears related to specific situations. The word itself comes from the Greek word phobos, which means fear or horror. Hydrophobia, for example, literally. The phobia tends to stem from a traumatic event involving mirrors – perhaps the fear of apparitions or ghosts being in the mirror – or low self-esteem related to one’s physical appearance. Linonophobia refers to the fear of string.
As with all phobias , the fear stems from a negative association with the item. We define a phobia as ‘an extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to something’. You are probably aware of the more common phobias , such as arachnophobia ( fear of spiders), claustrophobia ( fear of enclosed spaces), and agoraphobia ( fear of open places), but did you know there are also words which describe the fear of idleness, worms, and even body odour?
They are much more than normal fear and around million people in the US have a phobia.
Mentioned below is the list of phobias , with their common triggers and symptoms. If you have a phobia , you may experience a deep sense of dread or panic when you encounter the source of your fear. A phobia is an excessive and irrational fear reaction. Specific phobias can also occur along with other types of anxiety disorders.
Phobias come in many different forms. Aviophobia is the fear of flying. Felinophobia is the fear of cats. Myxophobia is the fear of slime. Xyrophobia is the fear.
It is a strong, irrational fear of something that poses little or no real danger. There are many specific phobias. Agoraphobia is a fear of public places, and claustrophobia is a fear of closed-in places. Acrophobia is a fear of heights.
This phobia is the weirdest of the weird phobias that we could have ever known. Many people live on this Earth with a constant fear of having a phobia. Literally, it’s the phobia of phobias.
