Bv discharge

What does BV discharge look like? How to treat BV over the counter? It is not a true bacterial infection but rather an imbalance of the bacteria that are normally present in the vagina. The fishy smell is often more noticeable after vaginal sex.

You may have a little itching or burning when you pee, but many people don’t have noticeable irritation or discomfort. This changes the normal balance of bacteria in the vagina.

The main cause of bacterial vaginosis is overgrowth of normal germs that can be found in vagina. Women in their reproductive years are most likely to get bacterial vaginosis , but it can affect women of any age. Green vaginal discharge is usually abnormal and suggestive of an infection.

A thick, chunky and foul-smelling discharge is not normal but could be a sign of sexually transmitted disease like trichomoniasis. Bacterial vaginosis symptoms include unusual discharge , usually a noticeable smell, irritation and sometimes burning or pain. Common symptoms include increased vaginal discharge that often smells like fish.

The discharge is usually white or gray in color. Burning with urination may occur. Occasionally, there may be no symptoms.

BV is one of the most common causes of vaginal discharge in women of childbearing age. Often, bacterial vaginosis ( BV ) causes no symptoms. This is true in about half of the women who have the condition. This may be because the bacterial disturbance is only mild.

Wipe from front to back after you urinate or have a bowel movement. After bathing, rinse soap from your vaginal area to decrease your risk for irritation. Symptoms, if they appear, may include itching and a gray, watery discharge with a fishy smell. Untreated BV can lead to serious complications. Thin, watery discharge , a little heavier than usual, grayish white or yellow.

BV is not a sexually transmitted infection (STI), but it can increase your risk of getting an STI such as chlamydia. The most common symptom of bacterial vaginosis is unusual vaginal discharge that has a strong fishy smell, particularly after sex. White Discharge Normal discharge. The medical journal BMJ, says that normal cervical discharge can be milky whiteish. Yeast infection (candida) Thick white clumpy discharge that has a consistency.

The vagina naturally has an environment containing “good” and “bad” bacteria. In cases of bacterial vaginosis, there is an excess of bad bacteria. This throws the vaginal environment out of balance.

BV is caused when there is too much bad (pathogenic) bacteria.

Again, typically, beneficial vaginal bacteria help keep bad bacteria under control. But, when the beneficial bacteria cannot keep up and bad bacteria overgrow, you can get a bacterial infection,.
