I have depression and anxiety

Many people have a diagnosis of both an anxiety disorder and clinical depression. Symptoms of both conditions usually improve with psychological counseling (psychotherapy), medications, such as antidepressants , or both. Lifestyle changes, such as improving sleep habits, increasing social support, using stress-reduction techniques or getting regular exercise, also may help.


If you have either condition, avoid alcohol, smoking and recreational drugs. In fact, it’s been estimated that percent of people with one mental health condition meet the criteria for two or more disorders.

Being depressed often makes us anxious, and anxiety often makes us depressed. If it turns out that you have both conditions, there are lots of ways to get help. Symptoms of Anxiety and Depression These are signs that a person may suffer from both anxiety disorder and depression : Constant, irrational fear and worry Physical symptoms like rapid heartbeat,.


The symptoms of anxiety can be hard to detect. Sleep problems, trouble concentrating, and fatigue are all symptoms of both anxiety and depression. Irritability may also manifest in forms of anxiety or depression (in place of low mood). There are however, some distinguishing features.


People with depression move slowly, and their reactions can seem flattened or dulled.

Someone who develops panic attacks for the first time at age often. It is not uncommon for people with depression to experience anxiety , along with symptoms such as nervousness, irritability, and trouble sleeping. Likewise anxious people can become depressed and experience low energy or a loss of interest in life.


This is the first question I wish I could answer for people who don’t live with either depression or anxiety. And certainly not both. To be clear, I’m happy for those people.


I wouldn’t wish any mental wellness challenge for anyone.

In one study, of those with major depression were also diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder and had symptoms of panic disorder. Other anxiety disorders include obsessive-compulsive disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Depression and anxiety disorders are different, but people with depression often experience symptoms similar to those of an anxiety disorder, such as nervousness, irritability, and problems sleeping and concentrating. I have spent long periods in depression , and experienced periods where I have felt OK. However, in the last months or so depression , anxiety and panic disorder took over my life.
