Stephen fry bipolar

It explores the effects of living with bipolar disorder on other celebrities and members of the public. Fry himself suffers from a less severe version of the illness called cyclothymia. Fry had to wait until he was before he was finally diagnosed with bipolar disorder , a condition characterised by soaring highs and despairing lows. Stephen Fry is an advocate for the diagnosing of bipolar in children.


And guess what the main purpose of that is? To then drug the child.

He talks about his childhood in the film and relates many of the ‘undesirable’ parts to his bipolar diagnosis. Stephen has cyclothymic disorder, a mild form of bipolar where a person has mood swings over a period of years that go from mild depression to euphoria and excitement. Fry affectiontally labelled his bipolar “bipolar lite”.


Stephen embarks on an emotional journey to meet fellow sufferers, and discuss the literal highs and lows of being bi-polar. So, you have an elevated mood. When people think of manic depression, they only hear the word depression. I di that a bipolar diagnosis is not a cause for despair.


But as with most recoveries, it’s important to stay vigilant.

There was and still is, and I still feel it occasionally, a danger of becoming sort of professionally mentally unstable,” said Fry, who is partly beloved for his candor about living with bipolar disorder. Some people, as some people always will, cannot understand that depression (or in my case cyclothymia, a form of bipolar disorder) is an illness and they are themselves perhaps the sufferers of a malady that one might call either an obsession with money, or a woeful lack of imagination. Fry started his career as a television broadcaster when he produced The Cellar Tapes, which caught much attention. He has bipolar disorder. It is a condition in which suicidal thoughts and attempts to take your own life are common themes. There are suggestions that at least a quarter and maybe even half of patients make at least one attempt. With a new memoir out, More Fool Me, the iconic British comedian continues to spit in stigma’s eye with honest talk on tough subjects.
