Messy house depression

The thought of listing them for sale on a site of having a garage sale overwhelms me (although selling the items would be great for my wallet). At times, it can be difficult to keep up with day-to-day chores around the house. Yet, too often a messy house only makes us feel worse and it can be very discouraging.

Unfortunately, a messy house can add to those feelings of depression — creating a destructive cycle that feeds on itself. Alcohol, ironically, is a depressant, so while it offers a short-term boost, alcohol and depression only compound one another. A messy room can also be a sign that you have depression.

Specifically searched to see if there’s a link between a messy house and depression because of how this is impacting my mental health. Imagine my relief to find as a man I don’t mind a mess at all. Cycles of mania and depression can make it very difficult to keep a handle on household clutter. While that might be oversimplifie researchers seem to have found a connection between cluttered homes and stress, depression and. I want to bring awareness to mental.

I have had depression many years and worked full time plus raised children so it was often hard to find the energy to keep up with all of the house chores. I tried to make a schedule and keep to it even if I had to force myself to do it. I would try to clean just one room a day instead of doing the whole house in a day.

Depression can lead to a cluttered home. Based on recent studies, the stress levels of many homeowners rise because of the mess in their household.

Not necessarily, but sometimes it does. Organizing the house gives you something to think about. Hoarding is not the same thing as OC as brain scans have discovered. While there is a link between that disorder, and depression , and the clutter in a house , they are not the same. Many people have written about their depression and anxiety as well as their tendency to clutter the house with unnecessary items.

I completely understand. It is a hallmark of my depression to how bad my apartment gets. And for some reason, one of the ways that manifests is that excess stuff and clutter in my house drives me absolutely batshit bonkers.

I’m sure my upbringing and my childhood is partly to blame. Is the messy room something new and unusual? If you are typically neat and organize suddenly not caring about a messy room might be a sign that something is going on in your life.
