Swollen lymph nodes under jaw

Lymph nodes can be found throughout your body and at times can become swollen. Some of the causes of swollen lymph nodes include an ear infection , strep throat , and mononucleosis.

The inset shows three swollen lymph nodes below the lower jaw. There are lymph nodes you can feel beneath the chin and jaw , which work just like the other lymph nodes of the body. When you have a swollen lymph node under jaw , it means you have an infection or inflammation in the area.

The term swollen glands refers to enlargement of one or more lymph nodes. The infection is characterized by swollen lymph nodes, high fever, intense pain in the throat and jaw, weakness and fatigue. The symptoms of swollen lymph nodes depend upon both the location and cause of the enlargement. Patients may experience symptoms of an upper respiratory infection (runny nose, sore throat , fever ) and feel slightly tender or painful nodes under the skin around the ears, under the chin, or on the upper part of the neck under the jaw. Most swollen glands or lumps under the skin are not cause for concern.


The glands ( lymph nodes ) on either side of the neck, under the jaw , or behind the ears commonly swell when you have a cold or sore throat. Other causes may include: dental abscess, cervical adenitis, osteomyelitis, sinusitis, lock jaw , broken jaw , and par otitis. I have a swollen lymph node under the right jaw in the neck, feels like a egg inside. I noticed it about 2-months ago.


No pain but the sensation of it being there.
