Different types of ocd

What are the three categories of OCD? Are obsessive beliefs specific to OCD? How to tell if you have OCD?


Even in a modern society that’s far more advanced and progressive when it comes to categorizing mental and anxiety disorders, there still remains a lot of work to be done on examining the different types of obsessive compulsive disorder. Some people use acronyms to refer to different types of OCD.

It is worth noting that these acronyms have no official medical meaning and are used mainly by the OCD community on OCD message boards on the internet. One of the problems with these acronyms is they have often been confused to mean different things to different people. The different types of OCD are Constant checking type, hoarding type, intrusive thoughts, fear of contamination type and symmetrical type. We explain OCD symptom groups.


This expressoin is a good metaphor for the idea that OCD can present as different symptom subsets. Some of these subsets are familiar to most people. Are there different types of OCD ? Although all forms of OCD have symptoms in common (see previous page for more), the way these symptoms present themselves in daily life differs a lot from person to person.

As we’ll see, the content of a person’s obsessions isn’t ultimately the important part. Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder , otherwise known as OCD , is a condition whereby a person engages in repetitive or ritualistic behaviors or thought patterns that interfere with daily activities. There are two primary types of OCD therapy, namely cognitive-behavioral and drug therapy. Many times, doctors treat their patients with a combination of both.


There are Different Types of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder ( OCD ) that constrains an individual to perform repetitive behaviours. Which incorporates contamination, ruminations, intrusive thoughts, checking, hoarding and the list goes on. The symptoms of the OCD can be absolutely manageable by right treatments and therapies. It is a serious mental health condition that can be controlled and even overcome through effective treatment options. Living with the different types of OCD symptoms can be crippling and frightening.
