What is sadness and what is depression

What is sadness and depression? Feeling sad is a natural reaction to situations that cause emotional upset or pain. There are varying degrees of sadness.


But like other emotions, sadness is temporary and fades with time. In this way, sadness differs from depression. We’ve all experienced it and we all will again.

Sadness is a normal human emotion. If your child is sad , it doesn’t necessarily mean he has depression. Or, if your child has disruptive behavior that interferes with normal social activities, interests, schoolwork, or family life, that may also be signs of a problem.
